Laurie's acceptance speech

EPIC Award 2010

Preacher Man won the Best Metaphysical/Spiritual Romance category:

I want to thank EPIC for this honor.  It has been so much fun over the last two or three months as a finalist telling everyone I know, "I'm going to New Orleans in March.  One of my books is up for an award and I'm going to the awards ceremony."  My non-writer friends always ask me the same thing, "Is it like the Oscars?"  And I always tell them, "Yes!  It's exactly like the Oscars."  (Lots of laughter here...)

Of course, my writer friends know exactly how prestigious this award is, and I know they'll be thrilled for me.

I have several people to thank.  First of all, I want to thank my editor at Wild Rose Press, Anne Seymour.  Anne was the editor that every author dreams about, because from the moment she read the manuscript, she loved it.  She was such an advocate for the book and loved it as much as I did, and that's a gift that not every author gets.  So thank you, Anne.

I want to thank my parents for being here with me tonight.  I told them I needed them there to either celebrate or commiserate with me, and I'm so happy that it's the former.

And last but not least, I'd like to thank God for this blessing that He's given me.  Thank you, all!
