Book Description:
What if everything you thought you
knew about your family turns out to be a lie?
Penelope Livingston has had an ache in
her heart for twenty five years -- ever since that traumatic day
she gave her baby up for adoption. Now, she's trying to
locate her daughter. Research uncovers a young woman named
Claire who seems to be a perfect match. The two women
believe it is Fate that they found each other, and they begin to
forge a happy friendship.
Unfortunately, only the baby's father, Larry O'Neill knows the
truth -- that he never allowed his daughter to be given up for
adoption. He raised the baby himself, with the help of his
babysitter, Sally, who quickly became his wife.
Now, how does he keep Penelope off his
daughter Melody's trail, so that he can keep his family in tact
and himself out of jail? Author's
Notes:
It was fun to write this book, and I feel that it stretched my
skills as a writer. When I set out to write this book, I
wanted to try to do a more complicated plot line. Instead
of having a straightforward story that starts at Point A, moves
through Points B, C and D, and ends at Point E (like my first
two books), I wanted something a little more challenging.
More intricate. I wanted to create multiple storylines of
seemingly unrelated characters, and explore each one
individually, before eventually tying it all together and
letting the reader in on how they're all connected. I hope
I achieved that.
I worked on this one for nine straight months, which is pretty
quick by my standard, considering it's 20,000 words longer than
my first two books.
Tally:
Legacy was rejected by 12 publishers, and received one
contract offer, which I declined, before finding a home as a
trade paperback and e-book with
Whiskey Creek Press!
