Book Discussion Questions

Preacher Man, by Laurie Larsen

1.        Do we expect our pastors to be different in relationships/love life? Do we hold them to a different standard?

2.       How difficult is it for us to believe that something in our past can truly be forgiven? If we have felt God's forgiveness, how different is "it," that is, the thing that has haunted us? Humanly, maybe we can't forget, but can we believe God wipes it from the slate and that He truly forgets as part of forgiveness and grace?

3.       God opens doors for us to find him.  What examples from the book demonstrates this, and what examples from your own life can you cite?

4.       How does Regan’s faith mature during the Youth Rally scene in the book?  What can we learn from Regan being thrown into a faith leadership position before she’s ready?  Do we have any examples in our own life where God called us to speak up before we thought we were prepared?

5.       The guilt that Regan has held onto from an event in her past has damaged her present and potentially her future.  How has guilt in our own lives held us back?  What is our Christian response to guilt?  Can a small amount of guilt be helpful in our lives?
