about
Preacher Man! Book Description:
Regan Samuels is newly single, doing
the best she can to raise her teenaged son, Luke, in the city.
She gives the adult dating world a go, and decides she'd rather
trade in her stiletto heels for fuzzy slippers, and her Gold
Visa for a Blockbuster rental card. Will she ever find
love again, and if so, after the total disaster of her first
marriage, would she know what to do with true love if it ever
found her? Josh Gregory is
a pastor who longs for the loving family that his parents never
provided. Because he grew up in a broken home, he's always
been ultra-careful about the women he dates. Besides, in
his profession, a carefree dating relationship is a bit of an
oxymoron. When he wins a date with Regan at a Charity
Auction, he never expects to fall in love with her. After
all, she's not really preacher's wife material.
But God has a different
idea.

Author's
Notes:
This book was so much fun to write!
Due to its inspirational message, I don't think it's too much of
a stretch to say that I think I had help on this one! I
fiddled around with the plot for a l-o-n-g time (9 months)
before I started writing it. But once I started writing, I
completed it in 5 months -- that's somewhat of a land-speed
record for me! Much of it just rolled off my fingers onto
the keyboard, and I was grateful to just be along for the ride.
Preacher Man was my first
attempt at the inspirational romance subgenre. I didn't
exactly set out with the intention of writing an inspirational,
but when the story idea came to me, and I started sweating
through the plot (remember the 9-month comment above), it just
came out that way. And it was a very positive, enjoyable
experience for me and my own faith to express my beliefs in this
format.
Tally:
Preacher Man was rejected by two agents, and five
publishers before finding a home with The Wild Rose Press.
It also won first place in the 2006 Golden Acorn contest.
In 2007, it was under consideration of a publisher who went
bankrupt before an offer was made.
